Early Signs of Mastitis Every Dairy Farmer Should Know

 



Mastitis:

              Mastitis is the swelling and infection of the udder that causes the reduces of milk quality and the production of milk and other than this mastitis is one of the most dangerous and so much over spreading disease in the world and mainly present at  the different areas where the population of dairy cows are high in numbers and it is mainly cause at the udder of the animals so all the explanation above is related to the mastitis.

Causes of Mastitis:

There are the following causes of mastitis which are given below:

·     Bacterial infection

·     Poor hygiene

·     Wet bedding

·     Injury to udder

·     Poor nutrition


Early Signs of Mastitis:

 There are the some of the early signs of mastitis which were given below:

·     Changes in the milk color

·     Slight swelling of the udder

·     Mild heat in one quarter of the udder

·     Presence of small number of clots in milk

·     Reduced milk yield

·     Watery milk consistency

·     Cow showing discomfort during milking

·     Slight redness of the teat

·     Early loss of appetite

·     Increased somatic cell count



Symptoms of Mastitis:

 Following are the some of the main symptoms of mastitis are given below:

·     There is a swollen, hot and the painful udder

·     There will be a redness of teat

·     The milk of the cow becomes watery and pus like

·     There will be decreased quantity in the milk production of the cow

·     And the most important symptom is the fever in severe cases.


Prevention:

There are some of the main following preventions which were given below:

·    We should maintain hygiene and we must clean the shed daily and also use the dry bedding for our animals and make sure to wash the udder of the animal before and after the milking and we must follow all these preventions for our animal to prevent these types of diseases in our farms. And we must follow the proper milking management plan in which we use the clean hands and must follow the regular milking schedule and one y=the most important and main point is to do not leave milk in the udder of the animal and this prevention should must be follow by all the farmers to prevent this type of dangerous disease in the field and farm.

 

Treatment:

The treatment for the mastitis which we followed is given below:

·     As antibiotics is used for the mastitis in which we mainly use the penicillin and the oxytetracycline and one of another method we commonly used in the field is the detergent test through which we test the milk and then treat the animal with these following antibiotics.

 Conclusion:

Mastitis can be controlled by the early detection of the farmer and the use of the daily controlled requirements which were taken by the farmer and should follow the proper hygiene and management is the key in this case and also make sure to maintain the proper nutrition for the animals in the farm and make sure that the effected animals should be separated from the healthy animals and take care of the infected animals at separate area.
