Actinomycosis in Animals Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Explained

Actinomycosis is a one of the disease infect it is one of the chronic bacterial infection that is commonly affects the livestock animals especially the cattle and sheep and most importantly it is mainly caused by the actinomycoses bovis and it is also usually enters the body through the small wounds in the mouth and also most importantly it is also known as the lumpy jaw and other than that the early detection and the proper veterinary treatment are most important to control the disease and prevent the long term complications and it is also known as the big jaw.

Clinically characteristics:

The most important clinical characteristic is the swelling of the maxilla also the swelling of the mandible and also one of the clinically characteristic is the pus and these are one of the most important characteristics of the disease is known as the actinomycosis.

Etiology:

The etiology of the actinomycosis is briefly described below:

·      Also known as the actinomycosis bovis

·      It is also the gram-positive bacteria

·      And it is present in the rod shape

·      And most importantly it is the facultative anaerobic

·      And it is the non-spore forming

·      And it is the non-motile and it is the filamentous structure

·      And it is produced by the exotoxins

·      It is also known as the opportunistic bacteria

·      It is normally present in the GIT tract

Exotoxins:

The exotoxin is the leucocidin which means the lysis of the WBCs which means it is pyogenic and most importantly the entry is to through the injuries from which the animal suffers a lot and this is all about the exotoxins.

Transmission:

The route of the transmission is simply the injury which simply means that the area of the injury is the route of transmission in the animal and other than the injuries there are some of the routes through which the disease is transmitted very easily and these routes or these sources are the stomach tube which is one of the reason of transmission and next the metal is also caused this also the needle and other than that there is the teeth eruption and also the rough feed is also one of the cause of the transmission in  the animal.

Pathogenesis:

The pathogenesis of the actinomycosis is divided into the two main parts and first one is hard infection and the second one is the soft infection and it will be described below:

Hard Infection:

·      In the hard infection it affects the bones that will be the mandible and the maxilla bone

·      And it causes the osteomyelitis

·      And it enables to masticate and picking means the dropping of the cud and quidding as well

·      After this it simply cause the anorexia

·      And in the result, there will be the hypersalivation

Soft Infection:

·      In the soft infection it simply affects the esophageal grove

·      In this case of infection there will be the impaired digestion

·      Then this impaired digestion is divided into the two parts

·      First one is the osmotic diarrhea

·      Second one is the recurrent tympany

·      So know due to the excess of the indigestible solutes

·      It simply cause the dehydration

Diagnosis:

So as we all know that diagnosis is one of the very important factor to know about the disease and for diagnosis we simply do the some common information taking process so firstly we take the history of the animal from the owner of the animal as well as from the animal physically as well so for owners we ask some questions related the animal and that is related to the animal feed as well as the animal palace of living and water availability of the animal other than that we also check the clinical signs of the animal in clinical signs we simply take the temperature of the animal either it is low or high according to this we also calculate many of the disease severity and other than that we also check the animal and the n we do some of the tests related the blood tests as well as the urine test for the confirmation of the disease so this is all about the diagnosis of the animal through which we simply diagnose the disease of the animal.

Differential diagnosis:

Following are the differential diagnosis of the disease which were given below:

·      Rabies is one of the differential diagnoses

·      Second one is the actinobacillosis

·      Mouth trauma is also included

Treatment:

Following are the treatment which were given below;

·      Isoniazid we use it in the chronic condition

·      Na/K iodide

·      Oxytetracycline

·      Also do the isolation

Control:

In the control we should control the good management practices because management is the key of the profitable farm and other than that we should detect it early and done the isolation for the betterment of the other animals and we should treat the affected animals and also look over the hygiene and farm sanitation and most importantly the supportive care we should do for the betterment of the animals of the farm this is all about the control for the disease actinomycosis.
